Recently I happened to read the novel, The Mysterious Basement of Summer City written by Mrs Priya Ramesh Swaminathan.
True to the preface of the book the author has kept written the story so well and it leaves one hooked to the book till the end to find out who or what exactly is the culprit for the many deaths taking place in the Basement. The characters are well etched out come alive in the book. Enjoyable must 📚

         He knew what she meant.  Soon they were speeding towards ‘Summer City’.  As they rode, Maya asked Inspector Karanth about how he had known that she’d be outside the hospital, just then!  He told her that he was patrolling the streets outside the hospital for the past week, and just had a hunch that she would try to make an attempt to investigate that night.

        “Smart chap,” she told him happily.  She felt light-hearted and strong.  Somehow, Inspector Karanth’s strong presence and matter-of-fact demeanor gave her moral strength.  She had come to trust him and had even forgiven him for his ‘lapse’ on that 1^st day at ‘Summer City’.  It was 2 weeks since that incident.   She had been for a week in that hospital.  She only hoped that she’d find some evidence at least that night.

        Guessing her thoughts, Inspector Karanth cautioned her saying “To tell you the truth, Madam, I just hope that you’d change your mind, just this once.  At least for me!”  Immediately he corrected himself, “I mean, I’d hate to see such a capable and efficient cop losing her life, even if it’s in the line of her duty.  It just isn’t worth it! ”
