Lucky Day

Seven, seven, seven, is a lucky day
Couples flock to make it their Wedding Day!
The fate of the world’s new 7 Wonders hangs in balance
Today, every wonder stands an equal chance!
Everyone is in a numerological trance,
Trying to break out into a merry rain dance!
Though numbers may make you lucky today
Hard work, patience and perseverance
will make your day, hereafter, every day!

Thoughts

Thoughts are random, illogical, continuous
Thoughts ramble, wander, walk, run.
Thoughts never stand still
They cram our waking ours
Appear as dreams while in sleep
Dog us in sickness, sorrow and happiness
Loyally keep us company
Even when we want to be left alone!
Thoughts trouble, muse, arouse, anger,
Berate, tickle, inspire, incite!
Thoughts make us, thoughts break us
Thoughts can help overcome obstacles
Thoughts can help to create obstacles
Thoughts may be channelized, modified,
Subdued, glorified!
Thoughts are thoughts ……..

Drawing Competition's Results

The judges at work!
The enthusiastic participants

Results of the Drawing Competition conducted by Priya’s Vision Academy
at Moraya Residency on 15th August, 2014.
Dear friends,
Thanks for the overwhelming, enthusiastic response and participation. I desire to conduct many such events in future. I’m sure that you will always participate in large numbers and make the events as successful as this one.
All the 35 children learnt to share, enjoy, spend time fruitfully and be creative; which is the essence of such competitions. As is the norm, some will win and some won’t. But each participant is a winner because he/she made the attempt to be as creative as possible.
As is rightly said, “Try and try again till you succeed”. So friends, those who have won prizes, hearty congrats to you! Keep it up! The remaining participants also win token gifts and certificates as an appreciation of their sincere efforts.
The competition’s entries were judged by Mr. Chandrakant Mulgundkar, Civil Engineer, who works at MHADA (Maharashtra Housing and Development Authority), Pune.
He is a very good artist and is also a stage-artiste and actor. He had won the First Prize for acting, in a State-level Drama Competition. He has starred in serials and movies like ‘Anumati’ (Marathi), etc. He will soon be seen in the Marathi movie ‘Sangto Aika’. He was helped in judging the entries; by his wife Mrs. Jyoti Mulgundkar. She is a private tutor and is a multi-talented person.
Both of them have sponsored 2 prizes, one each in the A and C groups. They were very impressed by the children’s creativity as it was an ‘On the spot’ drawing competition. They found it extremely difficult to choose the best ones from among all the beautiful drawings. But they eventually zeroed in on the winners and declared them.
Apart from the prizes, token gifts/certificates, all the winners get a discount of Rs.100/-, Rs.75/- and Rs.50/- respectively; on the fees for one month’s drawing classes by Priya’s Vision Academy. They may enroll on 23rd of August, 2014. The fees for one month are Rs.600/-. The classes will be conducted on Saturdays and Sundays from 10.30 a.m. to 12 noon, for 1.5 hours, starting from 30th August, 2014. (Total 8 days) Hence the fees for the 1st prize winners will be Rs.500/-, for the second prize winners will be Rs.525/- and for the third prize winners will be Rs.550/-, for one month only. The remaining participants may also enroll for the classes.

Six

A sixer over the boundary sends hearts racing.
Six sixes in an over is thrilling and amazing.
Triple six is the Devil’s advocate.
A hex is cast; say those who don’t believe in fate.
A dangerous hexagon is the carbon ring
Only death and decay does it bring!
Six and nine just don’t mix
Doesn’t six put you in a fix?
Half a dozen is of course, not dirty!
Life begins just at sixty!

It's raining...

It’s raining, it’s raining
Cats, dogs and horses
In ferocity it’s gaining
Farmers are counting losses
Slum-dwellers are losing houses
Pot-holes are widening and deepening
The monsoon ‘magic’ is just beginning!
For some it’s a boon, for others it’s a curse!
School students can play truant
Office-goers in a traffic-jam can only grunt
Why do we have to always bear the brunt?
Meanwhile just keep wading
Realize how important it is to know swimming
To keep from drowning in the murky waters!
And pray that the ‘monsoon magic’
Turns you into a bird or a fish.
Every-time it pours, make this fervent wish!

Proverbs

‘Make hay while the sun shines’
Beware, if it shines too brightly,
Your hay may get scorched
And leave you in the lurch!
‘Every cloud has a silver lining’
because the sun, behind it is shining
But when the whole sky is cloudy
Search yourself for the silver lining!
‘A rolling stone gathers no moss’
but it does find greener pastures
it’s not soiled by the dirt of sloth
nor daunted by impending doom!
Thus though we may take a page
      Out of our proverb books;
      We’ll have the last word
When it comes to plain brass-tacks!
