Happy Navaratri!
Dear friends,
It's time again, for celebrating the festival of reverence towards the three Goddesses; Durga, Laxmi and Saraswati, symbolizing Strength, Wealth and Knowledge; respectively. As enthusiastic dandiya beats reverberate, the Ghata, that is the Kalash and another clay pot filled with 9 various kinds of seeds is installed in some houses on Ghatasthapana, which is the first day of the Navaratri festival. The Kalash ensures that the house and its residents are blessed with abundant peace, prosperity and progress and the seeds that germinate and grow as each day of the festival passes by, also signify new tidings of prosperity and abundance.
In South Indian houses, the Golu is installed. The statues of various deities, saints, dolls, etc. are arranged aesthetically on a step-like structure. This is the Ghata that will be worshiped throughout the festival. The Golu enchants the young and old alike. The tasty Sundal, made of lentils and coconut is the delicious prasad offered to visitors.
This grand celebration ends with Saraswati puja on the 9th day and Dussehra on the 10th day.
On this auspicious occasion, I wish all of you a Very Happy Navaratri. May the divine Goddesses in their various forms, bless all of us and shower their benevolence on us, so that we are enthused to live life to the fullest, in the fittest way possible.
