My "Holi" celebrations!

While people were busy splashing colours all over the town and themselves, I had a field time making a colourful and cheerful rangoli. It still adorns my home, welcoming me with a broad smile whenever I see it. Do have a look....

Way back, in 2016. I celebrated Holi by painting an earthern pitcher that had been abandoned by the wayside. Thus I transformed junk into a piece of art. It still occupies pride of place in my living room.

In short, whenever I make a creation, be it on paper, fabric, pebble, cloth, pot or floor, or with any material like paper, beads, cartons, make-up colours, discarded items, flowers, et al; I celebrate Holi!

Essentially, whenever we are happy and spend our time productively we celebrate ourselves and life itself.

So why wait for any festival to celebrate? Let's celebrate each precious moment as once it's gone, we won't get it back, ever again...

For those who would like to indulge in such delightful and creative hobbies like rangoli, mehendi, pot-painting, fabric-painting, hand-embroidery, cross-stitch, art and craft, kindly contact me to enroll for my hobby classes. Children and housewives are most welcome. With Summer vacations starting soon, we expect an overwhelming response.

'Wow! Wrong Number' - An Excerpt

Dear friends,

Wow! Wrong Number

Foreword

It’s often said that “The grass is always greener on the other side!” What makes it so tempting, so sinfully alluring, that one wants to stray over to that side and even contemplate settling down there forever?

Isn’t it natural human tendency to constantly judge and compare two given situations and opt, sometimes unscrupulously, for the seemingly better of the two; if provided a chance?

Does the cross-over bode well for, or land one, in a bigger mess? What happens to those left behind, abandoned as it were, to struggle with the loss of a dream? Can they reclaim their lost ones who have flown towards greener pastures; and their own lives, in the bargain? Or should they start afresh?

Who decides what is right and what is wrong? We or our destiny?

An excerpt from the short story "Englis Babu"

Meena would spot him picking up old and discarded newspapers from dust-bins and reading them loudly.  “Civil war in so and so country!” “So and so dead….” “What is this world coming to?”  He would ask of no one in particular, stare vaguely around, shake his head and scratch his head.

He would them resemble a distinguished college professor, who was disgusted with the state of affairs in the world and frustrated at his inability to do something concrete to alter the events over which he obviously didn’t have any control!

Small children would heckle at him and throw stones at him saying “Englis Babu,
Englis Babu” and run away when he would pick them up and aim at them.  He would never fling the stones; just go through the actions.

No Mother-in-law, Please! An Excerpt and Review

Chapter 1 - A new proposal for Yogita

                                                                 An excerpt

“And what is the problem with this one?” her father asked Yogita, exasperatedly.

          “Nothing.” She said coolly.

“Do you think that no one is worthy of you?” her brother Yogesh asked her caustically. He was two years younger than her.

He continued in the same vein, “Do you think that you are some apsara? Please get real Didi! Soon we’ll have no worthy proposals left to consider!”

“So be it!” she countered petulantly.

An excerpt
“Neha, you should’ve been in your class now. What are you doing here, talking with these boys?”
Neha pulled a comical face at the boys, broadly winked at Vijay and walked with swaying hips towards her classroom. She didn’t bother to even say “Good Bye” to her Dad, in spite of being aware that her parents would be gone till she returned from classes in the evening.
Now she was already looking forward to her stay at Uttarpur. It looked promising, with so many good-looking and loaded blokes around!
The boys kept looking at her slim, receding back till she reached her classroom and entered it, after a final wave at her Dad. They grinned and winked at each other. Henceforth college life would be spicy, to say the least!
