                                                                    An excerpt

Suddenly a thump landed on his back. It was Shivani. “Hey, why are you quiet, man? Say something. Isn’t it beautiful here?” Himesh looked around at the gulmohar trees slowly wobbling by, in full bloom, a gorgeous whir of green and orange; and felt the cool breeze ruffling his hair.

Shivani also looked very pretty in a cream tank top paired with black jeans. Her thick, shoulder-length hair blew around her face, making her look innocent and charming. Her lips had a hint of pale pink lip balm. Her eyes flashed brightly, further accentuated by an eye-liner. She had definitely dressed up to impress him!

“Yes, very pretty,” he drawled meaningfully. She blushed delightedly. “Me or the scenery?” she asked coquettishly.

“Both” he said, with a slight grin. Shivani fawned at him obviously. Probably she was making some headway with him!

Defiantly, he threw back his head and countered “O.K. yes, so what?”

“Couldn’t you have had the decency to at least inform me about your tryst instead of ditching me in this new place like this?”

Now sheepish, he said “Well, I’m sorry, really sorry!  I hope you haven’t…”

Smiling slyly she said “Don’t worry, your secret is safe.  But you’ll have to promise me one thing in return.”

Warily, he eyed her haughty pose and wondered ‘what next?’

Shadows in the Dark Paperback – Large Print, July 1, 2021

Paperback

Excerpt

As if on cue, Himesh signalled a boatman who had been impatiently looking at them all the while, hoping for passengers.  As the boat touched the lowermost step of the ghat, Mira and Himesh raced down and hopped into the narrow canoe. Both were as excited as small children. When the boatman started laboriously rowing away from the shore, both revelled in the scenery around them.

Fascinated, they observed the ancient Mahakaleshwar temple slowly receding from sight, along with the ghats. Once in the middle of the river, they looked appreciatively at the hills and greenery all around them. The vast blue sky was reflected in the equally vast expanse of calm and clear water. The peaceful silence was overpowering. They too were under its spell, as they gazed alternately at the scenery and at each other. Only the rhythmic noise of the oars against the water, the slight puffing of the burly boatman and their heartbeats broke the spell.

Himesh looked at Mira, devouring her trim figure clad in a long tribal-print skirt and plain white blouse, with her long and straight black hair pulled into a high ponytail that enhanced her high forehead and delicate cheekbones. Her no makeup look suited her. Her dark eyes now had a dreamy, far-away look. He felt like kissing her, but the grim boatman deterred him.

Mira had also looked longingly at Himesh, appreciating his casual yet chic dressing style. He looked gorgeous in his navy blue jeans, sky-blue T-shirt and grey sneakers. As the breeze ruffled his thick hair, she longed to run her fingers through his hair too! But one look at the inscrutable boatman gave her jitters.

Suddenly Himesh’s funny-bone peaked up. “Hey look, a crocodile!”

The Trophy Wife's Plagiarism by the Film TBMAUJ - The Case Hots Up! She Is Unstoppable!

My review of TBMAUJ published on Google on 09062025

Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya (2024)

PRIYA SWAMINATHAN

This film has been substantially and willfully plagiarized from my novel - The Trophy Wife, first published on Amazon on 3rd June, 2019 as a paperback and then on 29th September, 2019 as an e-book. I have sent a Cease and Desist Notice to the film's writer-director duo and production houses. Do read my book and note the extent of blatant plagiarism and copyright infringement of my novel. Thanks.

COMMENT ON THIS ARTICLE

·         Mrs.Priya Ramesh Swaminathan, Pune

Mon, Mar 03 2025

I am the author of the book titled The Trophy Wife published on Amazon in 2019. The writer director duo and production houses - Jio Studios and Maddock films have plagiarised my original and unique book to make the blockbuster movie - Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, released in 2024. I have sent a Cease and Desist Notice to them on 1st February 2025. Will soon be filing a lawsuit for Willful Copyright Infringement and Blatant Plagiarism. Hope you take note of this fact. Thanks. Mrs. Priya Ramesh Swaminathan

P.S. I forgot to mention the name of the Production House - Laxman Utekar Films in this comment.

 Plagiarism

This is the most important issue for all Independently Published Authors like me, who are creative, hardworking and diligently write unique and heartfelt stories, painstakingly convert them into books, publish and market their 'Fruits of Labor' with patience and perseverance. The online mode of publication makes it so very easy for unscrupulous, selfish and greedy copycats to usurp their creative, original work and claim credit as well as remuneration for it from negligent production houses for whom nothing matters but profit! So obviously they will go all out to shield, aid and abet them. Deny all charges till they go red in the face!

The original author/writer be damned! Whither justice?

Let this news spread like wildfire! 'Cause it is the TRUTH!

And the truth always prevails.

After all, the pen is always mightier than the sword!

Not for nothing did I get a Degree in Communication and Journalism!

Satyameva Jayate!
