My Life, My Way! An Excerpt
A collective wail went up as each of
them wept and reminisced about the patriarch. The kids too wailed as if on cue.
“Oh what will we do without you Appa?” It was Shreyas.
“Couldn’t you have guided us for a
few more years?” Suyash moaned piteously, his Adam’s apple bobbing up and down…
“Oh why didn’t God take me instead?”
Suhas dutifully echoed his brothers’ sentiments.
“Appa
was so kind to all of us. We’ll miss him dearly,” said Shreya’s wife Shefali,
wiping her nose daintily with her pink chiffon sari.
Manini noted out of the corner of her
eye that she was blowing at the freshly applied nail-polish on her little
finger!
“How Appa was fond of my samosas!
He would always ask me to make them for him,” said Suruchi, Suyash’s wife.
Manini glanced at her and saw how she
was desperately looking at the rest of them for support. All eyes, no soul!
“And Appa just loved my coffee! Now who will praise me?” wondered
Suhas’s wife Sneha.
Manini knew that she was just joining
the bandwagon.
