She sighed. As expected, she found many from her group excitedly chattering at the canteen. On seeing her, they welcomed her and pounced on her with an assortment of questions and accusations.
“Why didn’t you contact us more often in the holidays? Were you so busy?” asked Geeta. “Oh she was busy with Preet!” remarked Shubhangi. Seeing Shreya’s murderous look, Shubhangi fell silent. The others too teased her about Preet. News had traveled around that Preet had followed her to Itarsi.
“So, when is D-day? When will we get to have your shaadi ka khana?” asked Hina, laughing, as everyone joined in. Daisy looked envious as she said, “Very soon, no doubt! Don’t forget us then!”
Seeing that she was very quiet, Shubhangi sensed something amiss. She observed that the usually chirpy Shreya appeared sad and wistful. That old spark was missing!
