CEASE AND DESIST NOTICE/LETTER FOR “WILLFUL COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT” OF MY PUBLISHED BOOK “THE TROPHY WIFE”

BY THE WRITER-PRODUCER DUO AND PRODUCERS OF THE HINDI FEATURE FILM “TERI BAATON MEIN AISA ULJHA JIYA”.

Respected Sirs and Madams,

Subject: Plagiarism and Willful Copyright Infringement of my book titled “The Trophy Wife” first published on Amazon on 3^rd June, 2019.

Reference: Cease and Desist Notice/Letter –To the Writers-Directors and Producers/Production Houses regarding the Hindi feature film “Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya” released on 9^th February, 2024.

I, the undersigned, wish to bring to your notice that I have observed with great shock and dismay that the original story of my book titled “The Trophy Wife” published on Amazon on 3^rd June, 2019, has been blatantly, illegally and willfully plagiarized by the Writer-Director duo, Mr. Amit Joshi and Ms. Aradhana Sah, for making the Hindi feature film, “Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya”. They haven’t taken any license or permission from me for reproduction of my book/original story as a feature film. So their use of my original story was unauthorized.

I have reserved and preserved all rights in my book which was first published on 3^rd June, 2019 on Amazon’s 13 marketplaces. The book clearly states that “The copyright of this book is with Mrs. Priya Ramesh Swaminathan.” This claim has been made both at the beginning and end of the story in the said book. Even the Amazon websites show my book as “Copyrighted Material”. Despite this fact, the writers and directors have illegally passed it off as their own work, thereby depriving me of my due credit for writing this original story, royalties on sales of my e-books and paperbacks, remuneration for my story from the production house and producers; share of profits after the film’s commercial success; as well as further opportunities for script-writing.

The direction is also nothing but a scene-by-scene adaptation of my story. A substantial part of my story has been plagiarized for credit and subsequent profit/publicity/opportunities by the writers and directors. I have read that a sequel to the film is also on the cards.

The eminent Film Producers/Production Houses haven’t exercised due caution and diligence while accepting this blatantly and illegally plagiarized content/story from the Writer-Director duo, Mr. Amit Joshi and Ms. Aradhana Sah; for producing/making the said film.
