The Table-cloth

I’m spread out when there’s a party
Where everyone laughs, loud and hearty.
I’m trimmed with the finest lace
Adorned with the best flower- vase!
I show off the antique silver gracefully
While everyone tucks into the spread gleefully!
My heart bleeds with every careless spill
As I wait impatiently for guests to have their fill!
Soon I’m raring for a wash
So that I may once again look posh!
Then it’s time to retire into my closet
With my other friends, the tea-cozy and the singlet!
